March 8th - March 27th

We were just sitting here talking about how fast time flies.  It truly is feeling that way.  Benson will be 12 weeks old in two days.  It's hard to believe.  Seeing how much he has grown up and how active and interactive he has become, sometimes it's hard to believe he isn't older.  He is so much fun and such a happy boy!  He loves to play with his toys and to concentrate on figuring out how to grab rattles and toys.  He found himself in the mirror and will literally sit and "chat" with the kid in the mirror for like ten minutes straight. It is so cute and funny!  He really knows who people are now.  He is a momma's boy and loves to just cuddle.  He lights right up when Ben gets home from school and comes over and gives him big smiles.  He hasn't laughed yet, but he smiles and coos ALL the time.  He loves to watch his cousins, Addy and Hailey, play and rough house.  He also loves to hear them sing.  He stayed for the full three hours of church two weeks ago, which ended up getting him sick.  That is one of the reasons its been a few weeks since we have posted. It was so sad to see him sick.  He had a fever and wouldn't let me lay him down flat.  He also had a runny nose.  We took him into the doctor and he found an ear infection.  We were so sad for our boy, but he was put on an antibiotic and it is all better now.  He still has a stuffy nose and so sleeping has been really hard for him.  We are all a bit overtired.  We are glad he is getting better, but wish he wouldn't have been sick in the first place.  He is mostly drinking formula now.  We are still getting breast milk from some friends, but it's a lot less so formula it is.  He has had a little more tummy troubles since we started formula, but we think we have found a good one that he likes.  He is almost liking his car seat now.  We go out all of the time and he is just fine.  He usually sleeps.  He is getting into a rhythm and schedule with his sleeping.  He is sleeping longer stints at night of 4-6 hours.  During the day he will be up for a little over an hour and then gets sleep again and goes back down to sleep.  It's good that he is getting into a rhythm and we are figuring it out because I am returning to work tomorrow.  I will be working from home, but will still need to do a lot when he is down for his naps and need to work around his schedule, so it's perfect that he is getting into one.  We didn't really do anything to make that happen, it just kind of happened. He is such a good boy. He loves to sing fun action songs like "Popcorn Popping".  He still hates tummy time, but we are working on some ways to help him like it more.  I know this is a lot of details, but we want to keep a record of his growth and progress as well.

He likes it!

We removed the sling from his bath so now he is actually submerged.  It doesn't look like it in this picture but he loves splashing and playing.  He has figured out he can control his hands and feet and therefore the splashing.  Below is a video and it is ADORABLE!

He is also talking and cooing a lot, so we took video of that to share.  This is long, but so cute!

February 29th-March 7th

We cannot believe another week has already gone by.  Is there any way to just stop time, just for a little while?  Benson is at such an adorable stage.  He is full of love and smiles and just such a happy and sweet baby.  Today he had his two month doctor's appointment and it is the first time we have really watched him experience pain and it was horrible.  He had to get his shots and I cried watching him cry.  He was so brave and really did so well (probably better than me).  He is growing.  He weighed 10lb 15oz and was 24 inches.  He is in the 21st percentile for weight and around the 50th percentile for height.

This past week has been a lot of fun.  He is really starting to interact a lot more.  We bought him a play mat and he LOVES it.  He does tummy time there (which he does not love) as well as just lays on his back and plays with the whale and looks at himself in the mirror.  He kicks the whale when we tell him to, which is just adorable.  He does hate tummy time, but we know it's good for him and he's getting a little more used to it.  On Thursday, March 1st, he actually rolled over from tummy to back because he just wanted to get off of his tummy so badly:)!.  He hasn't repeated rolling over, but he is close.  He is extra strong!  We also started putting him in his bumbo seat in just the past few days.  He also started seeing himself in the mirror.  Oh my, it is the cutest thing.  Today at the doctors office he was smiling at himself with a smile he must only save for himself.  It was like this coy little smile and we loved it!  Today we have included a few videos so you can see how adorable he really is.

One other thing that is changing are Benson's sleeping habits.  He is sleeping a lot better without being held, which makes things a little easier for us.  He does still prefer mommy and daddy's bed, which is pretty dang cute.  We did figure out that if we just move the pillow from our bed into his bed he sleeps pretty well there too.  He is sleeping a little longer at night, about 4-5 hours at a time so everyone is getting a little more rest.

We are getting out more, taking walks and just having fun in and out of the house.  Benson is truly the joy in our lives.  We love him more than words can say!

He is ALWAYS the center of attention.  Everyone just loves to be with him.

Well maybe not the dog (he's a little sad he is no longer the center of attention:))

Tummy time is going ok....

and then not so much

Loving mommy and daddy's bed!

His two month picture to show how much he is growing (look, it's Grandma Carrie's blanket)
